MONO

Just before Christmas, Montana hadn't been feeling well and couldn't seem to shake it for a couple weeks. But then Christmas came and went and she seemed fine. But last week she was feeling rotten again. Her glands were so huge that her neck looked weird and she could barely talk. Her head was pounding and she couldn't swallow. So off to the doctor we went. Sure enough, it was mono. I had sort of suspected it before Christmas but then she got better. She barely got off the couch for about 4 days. She lost 8 lbs. Poor thing. She only missed 2 days of school last week. I had to check her out yesterday because she was so tired. She came home and slept for about 4 hours and felt much better. I keep trying to tell her to take it easy or it's going to take much longer to get better. That's hard to hear when you are 15 and very social!

THE RULE OF THREE

Hopefully this rule applies to our family and home repairs because it has been an expensive month for us!

1. As we were cleaning up after the Christmas chaos, the girls had a tug-of-war with the vacuum hose and ripped it apart. Central vac hoses are not cheap! ($244)

2. You know how much laundry you have when you come back from vacation? Well, right in the middle of all of that, my dryer goes on the fritz. ($137--$20 for the belt, $99 for the service call!) Luckily, I have a back-up dryer but still!

3. Last night, the boys were playing around and someone smacked an elbow into the window in the front door. We are thankful for tempered glass and no injuries. ($????) Still waiting for the glass guys.

Cancun

What could be better than escaping to a warm destination in the middle of a snowy January! We found out the weekend of New Years that we would be heading to Cancun the following week. It was a working trip for Kurt and I was able to tag along. This was just outside our bedroom door. We hopped over the wall and were on the beach!
Jim and Gina Anderson also came along with us at the last minute. These are the turtle boots Jim bought in Cozumel. He wanted to wear them immediately!

This is Kurt with Kara and John Bankhead. They went scuba diving just off the coast of Cozumel.

We had a great time riding around on the scooters while on Cozumel.

Dave and Jil in the usual spot.

Dave and Jil at our hotel, FIESTAMERICANA Condesa.

We always have to take a shot of us flying on the airplane! Not the most flattering shot.

Enjoying our Mexican treats at dinner.

HAPPY 40TH BIRTHDAY KURT!

Today Kurt turned 40! How weird is that! He spent his day at church............ Sunday birthdays aren't overly conducive to celebrations. We had dinner with the Hunters at home. Maybe I will surprise him with a surprise birthday party later in the month. Maybe not. I love you honey!
